The “American Idol Live!” tour started off with a recorded message from Ryan?Seacrest. The crowd filled around half of the Schottenstein?Center Thursday night, with empty seats scattered amongst the crowd.
The female “American Idol” contestants began the first set with the song “Wings” by Little Mix.
Aubrey?Cleland?sang a version of “Sweet Dreams” by?Beyoncéimmediately followed by Devin Velez,?Burnell?Taylor and Curtis Finch?Jr. singing Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie.”
After a few numbers by Paul?Jolley, Amber Holcomb and Finch, the male American Idol contestants all did a version of Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven” later in the set.
Then Velez sang a song that he said in his introduction brought him back to his Spanish roots. It was the song he auditioned for American Idol, “It’s Impossible” by Armando?Manzanero.
The first set ended with all the Idols singing One Direction’s “Live While We’re Young.”
During the second set, Angie Miller,?Kree?Harrison and Candice Glover all sang their newest singles.
Miller, who placed third, sang “You Set Me Free” and “Put It On Me,” both original songs.
Harrison, the runner up, sang her emotional single “All Cried Out” later in the set then asked the audience to sing along with her to “Hold On,” originally by Alabama Shakes.
When Glover, the winner of “American Idol” season 12, was introduced to sing solo at the end of the second set, the crowd became the loudest it was during the entire concert. Glover sang a version of?Beyoncé’s?“End of Time.” When the song ended, fans began shouting their love for her. The singer giggled and thanked the crowd for “all the love.”
Glover then sang her single “I Am Beautiful,” dedicating it to all the women in the crowd. Glover also sang “In The Middle,” introducing it as a new song off of her upcoming album. Glover invited the crowd to get up and dance.
The show ended with all of the “American Idol” contestants singing Phillip Phillips’ “Gone, Gone, Gone” with an encore of the hook.
Dekontee?Tete, 22, said she really enjoyed the concert and that her favorite part was when?Kree?Harrison waved at her from on stage.
“Well where do I start? I’ve been watching since it started,” said?Tete.
Tom Wood, a ticket taker at the?Schottenstein?center, said the crowd was more peaceful than most and that he enjoyed working events with peaceful crowds.
“This was a very easy event to work, good crowd, no trouble, I enjoyed it,” Wood said.
