Ohio State had faced USC three times in the past, twice since the Trojans joined the Big Ten conference.?

Forward Amanda Schlueter scored two goals in the first half of Ohio State’s first home match against the Trojans Thursday and provided the offense the Buckeyes needed to beat USC for the first time.?
“[Schlueter] is just such a joy to work with. She challenges me as a coach to be the best version of myself, and then that’s my responsibility to give the gift right back to her,” said head coach Lori Walker-Hock. “She’s been incredible for our program for her entire career, which I think is a unique thing. There’s a lot of players that come in and take time to find their path, and [Schlueter’s] been good since day one.”
The win moved the Buckeyes to 3-1-0 in the Big Ten.
Schlueter’s two-goal game, her third this season, brought her closer to another milestone. With 96 career points, she is just two points behind Kailyn Dudukovich, who currently holds Ohio State’s all-time points record.?
Schlueter described what becoming the all-time points leader in Ohio State women’s soccer would mean to her.
“It would mean a lot to leave my mark on this program. It’s such a great place to be. I love my teammates, and I love being here,” Schlueter said. “The work that me and all my teammates, especially my senior class, have put in the last four years is just a huge testament to that for everyone.”
