CampusParc will be changing the rules behind its parking permit system for the upcoming year, requiring users to designate only one active license plate associated with the permit, beginning Aug. 1.?
The system will now shift to only allowing one active license plate linked to the account, requiring those with multiple registered plates to switch the status when in use, an email obtained by The Lantern stated.
“Beginning with the 2026-27 permit year that starts on Aug. 1, parking permits will transition to one active license plate linked to your permit,” the email said. “You can still store multiple license plates on your parking account; however, one license plate can only be active on your permit when parking on campus.”
CampusParc representatives confirmed the message.?
“The change only affects how many plates can be active on your parking permit,” Jessica Orellana Colato, CampusParc manager for dispatch and customer care, said in an email. “Under the update, one vehicle must be designated as the active license plate while parked on campus.
The new guidelines will begin to be officially enforced starting Jan. 11, 2027.?
The motivation behind the change comes from a desire for increased transparency across the parking system, aiming to reduce incorrect citations and ensure accurate permit enforcement, according to the email.?
“The goal of this change is not to restrict flexibility or create additional citations,” Orellana Colato said. “Rather, it is intended to improve permit accuracy by ensuring the vehicle parked on campus is clearly identified as the vehicle using the permit at that time. Customers will continue to be able to manage multiple license plates on their account and switch the active plate as needed.”
